Oikawa Tooru X Reader - Cheer up

Practice Match – Aoba Johsai Vs Karasuno

The match between the two schools were almost finished and you were instructed by Shimizu to refill the bottles with water. Humming a little tune, you went off to proceed your little task only to bump into a tall figure. You stumbled back and glanced up to complain but you paused when you recognised the uniform he was wearing.

“Sorry about that. Are you alright?” His voice was a little bit too sweet and you could tell he wasn’t really concerned.

You bent down, picking up the box you dropped and scowled at the boy.

“I’m fine so you can drop your little act.” You huffed in annoyance.

Not letting him speak another word, you straightened up and walked past him but you didn’t miss the surprised expression he revealed for a second. He glanced back and immediately recognised the name that were printed onto your black jacket.

“Karasuno…” A sly smile was what his lips formed into before he went to the gym where his team were playing.

As soon as you returned to the gym, you noticed the boy from earlier was about to serve. You placed the box next to the bench but your eyes widened at the serve he gave.

“So fast,” You whispered in awe.

The ball hit Tsukishima’s arm who was surprised that the ball was aimed for him. That snapped you out of your daze and you saw the smile on his features.

“Just as I thought. You, number 6 and you, number 5 are not very good receivers, are you?” His words caused the annoyance you felt earlier to return.

You growled and snapped your head to Tsukishima and Hinata.

“You two! You better receive his serve, damn it!” You exclaimed, shaking a fist in their direction.

Hinata jumped in fright while Tsukishima only clicked his tongue.

“You sound like Tanaka.” Sugawara chuckled while you blushed in embarrassment.

The game continued and Tsukishima ended up missing the next serve. The male who you soon found out to be the captain, Oikawa Tooru was enjoying how angry you were becoming. Shimizu placed a hand on your shoulder making you glance at her.

“Calm down.” Her words made you take a deep breath a few times.

You smiled thankfully before you focusing on the court once again. The ball that Oikawa served was finally received and you watched with a grin as Hinata spiked the ball. It flew past the shocked captain and you snickered since you knew it was his first time seeing it.

“We won!” You celebrated and ran to Hinata.

You squished him in a hug and spun him around in joy and Kageyama tried to remove you from him but you forced the younger boy to join also. Oikawa frowned at the sight of you hugging Kageyama who had become a blushing mess. You released your hold on the two boys who could finally breathe and you turned to Oikawa. A smirk appeared on your features causing a tick mark to appear on his head.

“She really is pissing me off.” Oikawa gritted his teeth and glared at you but your attention had moved onto your team as they gathered together.

Interhigh – Karasuno Vs Aoba Johsai

You knew that you would meet Oikawa again and you really wished you could avoid it. You weren’t scared of him, it’s just…he was annoying. Maybe this was his way of revenge since you pissed him off at the practice match. You lived in the same area so you both occasionally met and every time you did, he would bug you for your number which you immediately refused.

Your phone buzzed at that moment and you blinked wondering who it was. You accepted the call and placed the speaker by your ear.

“[F/N]-chan!” Your eyes widened at the fact that Oikawa was the one who called you.

“How the hell did you get my number?” You questioned, your voice a bit too loud.

A chuckle was heard from the other line.

“A little crow told me.” You instantly knew who it was and snapped your head in Hinata’s direction.

He flinched and sweat formed around his forehead as he trembled under your fierce gaze.

“Delete my number otherwise I’ll break your phone.” You growled.

“You’re so mean, [F/N]-chan~” You heard that through the speaker but you also heard it behind you.

You turned around, only to be brought into a hug.

“Oikawa you bastard, let me go!” You squirmed in his hold but it only tightened.

“Oh, you’re so cute when you get angry.” He cooed, nuzzling his nose against your neck.

Your face turned red and you squeaked at the physical contact. Tanaka and Nishinoya who had finally processed the situation became angry, fire emitting in the background.

“Oikawa!” They yelled in sync and tried to attack but he quickly dodged them, bringing you along.

“Trashikawa! Stop harassing their manager!” Iwaizumi yelled and smacked the back of Oikawa’s head.

He immediately let go of you and you stepped back, thanking the ace.

“Iwa-chan!” Oikawa whined but he flinched at the scary look that was sent his way.

Oikawa turned to you for help but he blinked when he noticed you had disappeared from your spot. A trail of dust formed behind you as you zoomed inside the massive centre.

“[F/N]-chan! Wait for us~” Tanaka and Nishinoya cooed, running after you.

“Ah! [F/N]-senpai is going to get there before us!” Hinata exclaimed and a determined look flashed in Kageyama’s eyes.

They ran after you, leaving the bewildered Karasuno team and the two members of Seijou.

Your team had lost and you stared at the court in shock. This couldn’t be. Your team can’t lose! Tears welled up in your eyes as you saw Kageyama and Hinata in despair but when Oikawa came into your view, you had snapped.

“You piece of-” You ran up to him, anger taking over your mind and you intended to punch the captain in the face but Takeda-sensei and Coach Ukai held you back.

Oikawa chuckled as you glared at him with so much hatred and walked towards you. He leaned down so your face was an inch away from yours.

“You should have expected it. Your team could never beat ours.” His words hit you and the tears that you tried to hold back, slid down your cheeks.

A tinge of guilt hit him as he saw your weak state but he didn’t let it slip into his expression. He closed the gap between your lips for a few seconds before lightly patting your cheek as he broke the kiss. Takeda blushed slightly and he exchanged looks with Ukai who nodded towards the team who had gathered up. They released their holds on you and went off, deciding to give you both some time alone.

“Cheer up and get over it.” He straightened up and soon went off to his team without speaking another word.

You were stunned and many emotions mixed up inside of you. H-He just kissed you…but he told you to get over the match. Was that his way of him comforting you. No, that egoistical boy was never like that. Your eyebrows knitted together in anger and you gritted your teeth.

“That asshole…” You growled under your breath.

Interhigh - Aoba Johsai VS Shiratorizawa

Standing amongst the crowd, you glanced down at the two teams who were about to play. Ukai had asked if you could watch the match while he sorted out the team since they were all still really sad for losing against Seijou.

“Shiratorizawa! Shiratorizawa!” The group of students who were standing on your left cheered.

You saw how annoyed Oikawa was becoming due to how loud they were but when he heard your voice, he snapped his head up in your direction.

“Come on Shiratorizawa! You better beat his ass, Ace-san!” The students were surprised by your outburst but they soon began to cheer with you.

Ushijima glanced at you and didn’t know how to react to your words. He didn’t actually know you but he could tell there was some sort of relationship between you and Oikawa.

“[F/N]-chan! You should be cheering for me!”

“Why should I, baka?” You dragged on the last word which pissed off the brown haired boy.

Before he could retort to your words, the referee had called for him and Ushijima.

The match had ended and you really wanted to cheer for Shiratorizawa for winning but as soon as you saw Oikawa’s expression you froze in place. He may be an arrogant bastard to you but he truly loved volleyball and you could see it in the match you just watched. His reaction was the same as yours and it hit your hard. The other day, he was comforting you and you knew it was because he had experienced in the past how it felt to lose.

The teams soon left the court and you immediately turned around to find Oikawa. Arriving in the halls, you looked everywhere but he wasn’t seen at all.

“He’s in the locker room.” You snapped your head back and saw Iwaizumi who smiled slightly towards you.

You bowed as a way to thank him before running in the right direction. The room was dark when you slipped into the room but you could outline Oikawa’s body with your eyes. His head shot up and you saw angry tears escape his eyes.

“What do you want?” He snapped but you kneeled down to his level and forced him to look in your eyes.

He noticed how you hesitated at first but you soon cupped his cheeks with your hands and leaned in, letting your lips settle onto his. He stiffened up at the rare contact and when you broke the kiss, you rested your forehead against his.

“Cheer up and get over it.” You shot back the words he told you the other day.

Oikawa couldn’t help but be surprised by what you said but he soon let out a chuckle and closed his eyes when you patted his cheek lightly.

“Thank you,” He whispered, wiping away the last of his tears.
